The diamond shaped chain pattern with the v-bars welded into the links seem to work the best from my experience but they are very expensive. They are the most aggressive as well.

What is the size of the chain? Is 1/4 enough or need more like 5/16?

Also, they also make regular chains that have 2x times the number of cross chains and welded in v-bars in the links. Those work well also but are even more expensive than the diamond chains.

In 20+ years the best chains I have ever run were Trygg from Norway. The only economical way to purchase is to pre-order for next season and if you have someone that is will to share the shipping cost even better. I have a set on my TC right now that is in its 5th year in service and I just last week broke the first cross link. I purchased from White Mountain Chains in Idaho.

Can you tell me the size off the chain link?

Thanks

Unfortunately, I do not have that information here at work. There is a photo image of the 'tag' (size, etc.) from the chains posted in this section as previously requested.

I agree with Groundcover. The chains are made by Wallingfords which is headquarted in Maine. They also have a plant/warehouse in New Hampton, NH. I recently had them custom make two sets of square-cut chains without prongs for my 29x10.5x17 lugged tires. They are heavier gauge links than Pewags. And, they will not damage concrete or asphalt surfaces as much as pronged chains. However, they weigh more and cost more than some other brands. They have performed well for us this winter.
