Howdy Folks,

I live in the woods in WV and I'm looking to buy my first big tractor. Big to me is anything bigger than a garden tractor. I only have 57 acre farm but its pretty steep and mostly woods at the moment. I was thinking about getting a MF 135 or a Ford 3000. I enjoy reading the forums and all the help and advice people give. Thank you for your time.

Welcome to TBN. As you can see, I'm partial to the Massey 135.

Welcome to the TBN forums from Missouri. :)

We have tried 2WD on our hill farms twice; sold one and moved one to our flat land farm; good luck.

Thank you for the welcome everyone. Someday I would love to get a 4WD tractor. I do have to live within my means though. I see folks that get plenty done with smaller 2WD tractors and that's what I can afford right now.
But by all means don't let that deter you from voicing your opinion. The only big tractor I drove was an Oliver cleat tractor when I was a teenager. It did not even have a steering wheel. I have a big learning cure ahead but I have a couple neighbors who have tractors and can show me the ropes. Plus my fear of it rolling over on me. I will let everyone know what I end up with.

Hello Mike, welcome to TBN from Oklahoma. I'm partial to the MF, but the Ford is a good tractor too.

Well Folks,

I put a 100 dollars down on a MF135 the other day. The right front hub is busted and the folks said the part should be in soon and they will put it on. Then I will go back and give her a good test drive and finish the deal. Its an older one. Gas tractor, 6 speed, bug head lights. The two stage clutch does work properly but not sure who much clutch is left. The three piont kind of works, the raise/lower lever is stuck in the up position so to lower you use the draft. Not sure what the hang up is there. I assume its the continental engine. The sheet metal is pretty beat up. It does have new tires all the way around. I forgot to mention, no muffler and the tach/hour meter does not work. All the other gauges seem to be working. I hope I can get some work out of her. Have a good day.
