Hello

   / Hello #31
I installed the bigger starter and hotter plugs back in 2005, and a bigger, better battery 2 years ago, and mine still struggles below 40*f.

I'd really like to know what else has been changed on the newer engines.

Enhanced ignition coils?? Here is the thread that discussed the issue:

Also, it should be possible to compare the specs on the old vs new engines. I think the manuals are available on line.

I must say that this is a very active and friendly forum and I want to thank everyone for their great input! As a result of that input, I feel a lot more confident about purchasing a PT 425. I hope to place the order in the very near future. I'll keep you all posted.

Thanks Again.

Ken

If you do decide to order, try to get as many attachments as you think you may need with the initial purchase. Shipping costs are outrageous on individual attachments later on. The big bundle is the way to go. ;)

I used USHIP and it was much cheaper. Insured, but they did not get the PT to me on time (Almost a week late)

Back in 2001 I ordered mine on a Friday and had it the following Monday. I think it was Overnight Trucking company, if I'm not mistaken.

Chris is preparing a invoice for me and getting a shipping quote.

Here's what I ordered.

PT425

4 in 1 Bucket

10 cu ft Bucket

Brush Cutter

Forks

Mini Hoe w/thumb

Bar Tires

Sure wish I didn't have to pay tax on this, but that's life.

The deal should be finalized by Friday at the latest - then the waiting...:(

Otherwise :D:D:D:D:D:D:D

You are in AZ, why are you paying tax?

Well Chris mentioned something about tax a couple of days ago. But we were just starting to talk about a possible purchase. In thinking about it afterwards, I thought this was like an Internet transaction and should be tax free. I guess that's why I mentioned it in the last post. I'll wait until I get the formal quote and if there's tax on it, I'll ask why?

Has anyone else, not in Va, had to pay sales tax?

   / Hello #39
When I lived in CT, PT shipped my order and they did not charge sales tax on my order.

When I lived in MD and bought LMB/Blade, they shipped my stuff to Clumber's house with his order at my request (who lives in VA), and they did not charge me sales tax on my order.

So you shouldn't get charged sales tax unless AZ has some strange laws. Of course, you are expected to pay sales tax voluntarily to the state you are living in at the time you make the purchase, out of the goodness of your heart....

To reinforce what MR said: shipping on individual implements is outrageous. I paid $650 for shipping to CT for an order similar to yours. Buying just the blade/LMB would have cost me something like $460 in shipping half that distance for the $500 blade and $450 LMB together.... Which is why I tailgated on Clumbers order.

Buy it now if you think you will want it later (and of course, you will...)

JackRobin said that according to the serial number, my engine has the improved coils, the right plugs, and the 20 amp charging system. He sent me the heavy duty starter at no charge. Maybe I just have a Monday engine.

I'm pretty sure that there is only one version each of the online parts and service manuals for the carbureted EH72. I think they just list the latest parts and specs.

No matter - despite the warts, I'm still extremely happy with my PT after all these years.
