Good, I though about a sleeve idea, just didn't know if there was room for it, or if the dealer guys were willing to do that. Glad it's working out for you. Look under the repair forum and you can read about the JD 4300? hydro being rebuilt.

I'll leave you with this also. If my dash cluster ever fails, I'm using a stick to check the fuel, installing an autometer temp gauge I already own. The tach I may fix if it breaks. I am appauled at the prices I see for some of these parts.

Coming into this conversation late, I think NH is a better machine than any of the others on the market, hands down. I can understand your frustration, but I can also see why with a whopping two of you needing the shaft why NH is not stocking the part. I also know how long it takes for a company of that size to change the designation on a part. I would bet they are working on making the part available if there is interest.

In trying to show which part it is you need, you can go to NewHolland.com and get into their exploded parts views with the online catalog that is provided. https://webparts.pvassociates.net/cnh/webparts/main.php is the direct link, but yo may need to go through the main page then the parts tab and then the "search for parts" page. This is the same parts catalog available to dealers! It has helped me tearing stuff apart, getting the right parts ordered and then re-assembly.

I know a guy who has the upper shaft, if you are interested. I'll check on the lower.

hey nh bob

NH rep says he gets a fair amount of calls about parts for this HST unit.

and yes i too feel for NH and all of the work it will take to make this part available for those ungratefull whiny customers...

one has to wonder how does Deere do it.

Nemco,if you have one local try getting the part through a Case dealer. It may or may not be available through Case,it's worth a try.

Do you think that the HSTs for Kubotas and JDs don't have similar gotchas? I would be highly doubtful of that. The problem from my standpoint is that something caused your shaft to become pitted and ruin the seal.

You are correct that other mfgrs have similar designs. The JD I am working
on now has a very similar hole in the cast section where you can get at the
HST filter as well as the HST RVs and test ports. The MFWD drive shaft is
also exposed and indeed mine is somewhat corroded, but not past the seal.
This is an inviting place for a mouse nest, no doubt. My Kiotis and the
last Kubota I had had a different design strategy that had no hole, but the
HST filter had to be installed in a more exposed place. For the Kiotis, that
means the HST filter was a bit TOO exposed....clearly a tradeoff.

As for buying a new shaft, it surprises me that it is tough to buy one. I
needed numerous shafts for my B21 that were happily sold to me....not
cheap, but quite available. Gears, too.

I would just love to find a HST TC35/40/45 to rebuild....they are rather
rare on the west coast. I would like to see how they compare with
JDs, Kubs, Kiotis. I have little doubt that Shibaura makes a very good
machine.

Dave, I've been following your JD4300 rebuild in silence, but with great respect for what you are doing. I think you would find the NH pedal actuation of the HST transmission to be fascinating compared to the levers of the JD, but that Eaton HST with 6000 psi relief makes me jealous. The fact that NH does not support the entire parts list for rebuilding the transmission is pretty surprising and a big disappointment for me. If you find one to rebuild, you'll have to be careful to find a working transmission that may need nothing more than seal kits and rebuild kits for the pumps and motor. Shafts are hard to come by.

Yeah, that is disappointing, but not a deal breaker for me. Besides Kubota,
I have not had a problem getting any part from JD, including some they
rarely have to provide, as long as it is not something like a complete engine
or long block. Of course, buying some of those parts is so expensive that
custom fabbing may make more sense. I have done that in some cases,
including the axle housings on the 4300.

As for your NH.....I came close to getting a TC33 once, but the TC35 is
way way more tractor. Does it have any aluminum castings that compose
structural parts of the tractor?

BTW, with respect to HSTs, both JD and Kubota sell internal parts for
theirs. There are no rebuild kits per se. Neither of the HSTs I have fully
disassembled really needed anything. I replaced the charge pump on the
B21, but I probably did not need to. I was tempted to replace the two
valve plates on the JD just to make it a bit better, but I decided not to,
due to cost. Maybe if I was going to keep the tractor for many years, I
would have done so. These HSTs are amazingly robust.
