JD 5425 & 4300, Yanmar 1500
I got this thing for a song and would love to make it work. It used to be on a Yanmar 1600D but I have a 1500. It is a John Deere mower model #H005J or H006J (or close to that..its hard to read). It is serial # 421122M best I can tell. I can cut/drill plates etc but do not know the basics of how to get the "hanging" parts together.

The PTO part needs to be bolted/attached to the tractor so I can make a plate to do that. I likely need to change the skids to avoid hitting my wheels that are larger than the 1500 originally had.

My biggest problem is figuring how to hang this thing from the tractor and to hook up the cable that lifts it through some pully system to the (? upper) lift arms.

If anyone has pictures or an old manual to copy I would really appreciate the help...otherwise I have some scrap metal here!
thanks
Peter

Take a look at my web page. I have a YMM-45 which is driven from a front electric pto. The lift cables go from the upper 3pt lift arms around sheaves attached to plates that bolt to the 3pt lower lift arm mountings. There are photos there on my web site that may help you. I attached one here. I also have a 42" snow blade mounted on a smaller tractor that I used the same lift mechanism for. Except for the blade I put the sheaves directly on the 3pt lower lift arm mount pins. I need to get some photos of that setup and get them on my web site.

That mower deck of yours looks very much like a deck that is on my Dad's JD 316. Only I think it has the drive pulley up on the front blade spindle. It is driven by an electric clutch on the front of the engine.

Hope this helps.

Thanks, that photo helps get some of the hook-up mechanism figured out. I will have to put this thing under my tractor and just start playing with all the pieces to see what will fit. I suspect I ill end up doing a fair amount of welding/drilling/fitting to get it too work. Maybe I should just buy a bigger sledge hammer and MAKE it fit...Ok I'll just do it the neat way.
