If there is a roof over the wall, think about hooks with screw threads into the bottoms of the rafter tails and chain to hold up the sign.

The other possibility is a free-standing sign very close to the brick wall.

My deepest humble apologies go out to the forum for not reading that it had already been mentioned 1 time before to drill holes, I will retract my suggestion and take my 10 lashes like a man,:( p

Not 1 time.. .. but 2 times...Both post 1 and 5 mention 'no holes' :)

guys thanks so much for the advice. I am going to try and stay away from putting any holes into the brick. The building is not mine, and the owner said that I could hang a sign as long as I am willing to cause zero damage. I like the idea of the epoxy putty and putting the hook into that so that I could just chizzle that away whenever I am done...Are there anymore ideas that we might have overlooked?

Well I was almost gonna mention a 1/4" plastic shield and a screw on hook. And if it was just you afraid of damaging your own property, I, like some of the others here, might of tried to reassure you that that's pretty much industry standard, and not to worry about doing "damage".
But I see that you were told not to by the land lord not to. So yeah pretty much gonna have to go with the putty stuff, I have never used it but it looks good on the commercials.

How big is the sign? if not to big then 2 hooks, one at each of the top corners. if the sign is huge then you can put as many hooks as will fit in the width of the sign, that should hold it.

When you do go to "chizzle" them off, and there's any damage, just remind the land lord that he didn't want any holes in the wall.
It would be easier to fill a little 1/4" hole in the mortar joint than patching a spalled brick face. But that's only if that putty is so good that it actually requires a chisel to take it off, probably not though.

I suspect you'll be alright with the putty.

Good Luck. JB.

I'd stick the putty in the mortar joint specifically to avoid spalling the brick faces themselves.. plus it will give a bit of a lip to help with downforce.

You would probably need an amount bigger than just the joint, but if it was a deep, what we call "raked joint" that would really grab on, but then you might have trouble getting it out.

I'm actually hoping for a raked joint.. more surface area... as for removal.. I've yet to find an epoxy putty that stood up to cold steel and a mallet...hence the chissle...

You need brick clips! Brick Clip

I've never used them, but I've seen them in the Lee Valley catalogue I keep in the bathroom...it's not so obtrusive as the Acklands Grainger "phonebook.".

How big and heavy is this sign? If the brick joints are raked even slightly, there are hanger clips that clamp on the brick edges without damaging anything. I'll post pictures if you like. It all depends how heavy the sign is.

The sign is not a very big sign....I think of the options the one that I like the best are the brick clips. I might have to give that a try...Thank you guys for your help

Use velcro strips. You can buy long pieces of it. I doubt if the glue on the back of it will mark up your bricks at all.
