I've done two using spray tips from Agri-supply and braided hose from mcmaster carr. In both cases we already had the tank/handsprayer combo. As stated in the other posts, if you start from scratch it will be more expensive. Converting the 15 gallons sprayer isn't too expensive though. I added a Q-D coupling to make the hand wand removable on the second one.

With that many trees, you're gonna need a good size tank.
This is what I came up with to spray the lawn. I started with a fifteen gallon tank but made the 3-pt. platform big enough to hold a larger one. Works good for my applications.

Nice Work on the Sprayer, BigDad !

Can you tell me where you got your spray nozzles?
I want to build something similar for my small yard tractor.

Thank You for any help you cangive,

Tractor supply is where I got my nozzle bodies, "T" s, nozzles and hose.
They still had all the stuff when I was there last week.

Here's my version. It has a 30 gal tank, 6 roller Silver Series Hypro pump, 12' foldable boom with nozzles @ 20". Under the pressure gauge in the 3rd picture is a valve for a spray wand to be added. The boom sprayer works great. Mark

Thanks BernieP and Briar!
They had the 15 gallon pump job on sale for $79.99 (reg $99.99)..

Pieced together nozzles...for another $25 ro so.. now just need to rig a boom on my aerator or dethatcher.. and plumb in a valve for hand or spray and I think I'm in business...

I got the tips at the local farm store. It's been a while, but I think I had two or three attempts to get the tips that fit my needs.

I have about 3 acres of grass to maintain. I am not looking for golf coarse quality turf, but something fairly weed free would be good. Can I assume that using liquid chemicals sprayed with a boom sprayer vs bags of week and feed would work out better?

I understand the cost of the sprayer parts, I just don't have any idea what liquid weed control chemicals would run. I know this topic is on the sprayers themselves, but this kind of falls in the same category

Thanks

Paul

Seems like I always spend about 70 bucks on my three acres.
I have used various formulations of trimec. It worked ok.
I got some Triplet from my local fertilizer dealer it's a little more concentrated than trimec so you use less in the sprayer. It worked well the last two years. It's about 35 bucks a gallon and I needed a gallon and a half, gotta buy it by the gallon. This year I got some speedzone for 70 bucks a gallon and you need about a quart per acre on the low end. Seems to be getting my wild violets this time which is the reason I have been changing chemicals.
I added a surfactant to help it work better I don't remember what that cost. I have also added liquid fertilizer to it and plan to later but buying it from a tractor supply place can be expensive. I plan to get some from my family farm after planting season is over and get some leftovers if there are any appropriate leftovers.
