Tiller HELP My new used tiller turns the wrong way

Guys, as some others have said, it's not a rotational issue it's a blade issue, you wouldn't want the rotation to pull you back, you want it rolling the same way as the wheels or else you're going to have problems.

There are reverse rotation tillers.

Reverse Tine | Land Pride

I believe they state that more HP is required to operate them. It seems to me they would dig in better than Forward Tine, which of course may or may not be what the owner needs/ wants. A tractor with insufficient HP may still operate a Reverse Tine tiller, just not at the depth required ... but I'm just thinking logically, not from experience.

Look'n at those RICE tines, its spins the right way. Them's is for rice patty wet muck stuff.

Could try and match regular tines for it, or sell it. Not sure what would be easier

The main frame looks like it is symmetric in the side view. Maybe you can flip the hitch, rear gate brackets and gearbox around and run it the other way. A new set of left and right blades will probably cost you around $300. I just did this for my Yanmar YTK tiller.

WOW. Lots of replies. Thanks for all of the information.

When the tiller turns, the tines are rotating in the same direction as the rear wheels. When I get a chance I will try to turn some tines 180 degrees and put them back into their socket, if they will go. There is only one bolt holding each tine.

I might just flood a little of my back pasture and grow rice this year. ;-)

The tiller is turning in the correct direction. The tines are installed correctly, they are simply completely worn out. The grey market tillers use a "C" style tine, not a "L" style tine that more common on new tillers. When they are in good condition, they perform very well and are not limited to "rice" work. I see absolutely no need to convert it to "L" tines if you can find replacements. I've had a Yanmar tiller with the same style tines for many years and have been very satisfied. I suggest you drop down to the Yanmar forum and check out the various tiller threads. Based on the color and triple diamond on the side of the tiller, I would guess that it is an Iseki. I would remove a tine to get the proper mounting dimensions and use google or one of the grey dealers to find replacements. Hope you can find them.

If the bolt pattern on the "pumpkin" is symetrical, all you have to do is rotate it 180 degrees. No need to mess with the shafts.

I know that because my dad installed the pumpkin 180 out on his 39 Plymouth and he had 3 speeds in reverse and one forward!
