I you hit bedrock you can drill a hole to insert a piece of #5 rebar and use 10" sono tube to create a column. Don't forget to insert some kind of connector in the top of the column to attach your beam. I would put in 6 columns as 13' span will require a large beam, especially if the if the wall above is load bearing. No one wants a boucey floor.
I got a little more done today. Removed the old flu pipe...(welded well casing) that was interesting. I still will have to wait on weather to get the pads poured for my columns. :jel I am using what I have on hand as much as possible. I will have steel in the concrete blocks I am pouring for the pads and will be using cinder blocks for the columns.
The material I am using for the rest of the room is called Zlock so far that is the largest cost. There will be very little wooden structure from this point forward. The panels are fit together then are screwed to each other front and back. If you haven't used these they are great. I will take more pictures when able. I just got called into work tomorrow so it will be at least 8 or 9 days until I can start on it again.
Thanks GP you guys have alot of nice places up there too. I always liked the U.P. (if you could stand skeeters and biting flies .... ) Thats a little far to drive for me though. As for my security force he just bares his teeth and people go running...
I really hope I didnt screw up. I was just reading another post about treated lumber. I used treated lumber for the outside perimeter of my floor. I completely forgot about the way it shrinks. It is lag bolted, carriage bolted, screwed and nailed. I didnt have any construction adhesive or I would have used that too. :duh:
Nice, I might steal that idea of the detached room. I am going to build a bathroom after I get the bedroom finished. We are waiting on the water company to set the water meter. No need for inside bathroom til I get water.
Sorry I have been away so long. I have been finishing my degree and working and...... well I have been busy. I still have a ways to go but it is getting there. I hope to get the room closed in today.
