vtmbz,

Do you have two plugged ports on the hyd block/selector valve?

I replaced my old 2 spool valve with a new eaton 31922. It works fine but squeals when not in operation. This is a KB 7100 tractor . To operate the loader you pull a lever under the seat back. WHen I do that, I hear a squeal. In lift or curl, no squeal. Eaton says this is an open center valve, so what have I missed? Thanks

This is what was asked in post #1. Why change things from what he is use to?

Again==
Take PB fitting out and the plug you put in move it to the valve body where you took the PB fitting out. You are not using PB.

If you do that, you make the valve an open center valve, and total pump flow and cyl expended fluid flows back to the hyd block.

I say if you have PB to use it.

I can almost bet the manufacturer says to run or must run the out/return hose to tank.

The way his system is set up now is the FEL valve is last in line. NO need for power beyond.

I took the valve to my local tractor shop and asked for a plug for the power beyond port, and they handed it back to me with the plug and sleeve installed.
I took it as making do with what was on the shelf, without thinking it might cause a problem, as it appears to do.

Regarding rerouting through the PB port-- while it is obviously a great idea, its not absolutely necessary.

The new spool valve is a big improvement over the old since it has fewer constrictions. And Ive reconfigured all the hoses so I can get off the tractor on that side now, a big improvement.

I got the valve on ebay for 50.00 but ended up paying 140.00 for the short hoses in the picture, so once again, it would have been easier to buy the right valve in the first place.

Thanks for all the attention-- I will get those photos tomorrow. DP

Here are the photos of my plug- I begin to see where you were going with this.
A simple plug would have been more to the point. I think the dealership figured the groove in the fitting would suffice for the outport, but if I understand you, it didnt! I will try and find a proper plug today. PLUG.jpg

That is exactly my point.

If you want to use that valve as others have suggested by just plugging the port you can certainly do it, but the manufacturer recommends to run the OUT port to tank because of the about 500 psi limits on the internal parts of the valve.

Some have said the FEL valve is not first in line with the pump flow, is that correct?

I don't know if you have a hyd block that will allow you to add remotes, and use the FEL and 3pt without moving a selector lever.

I am almost certain you should use the PB and somehow connect the PB hose to the 3pt, and run the OUT/tank hose to tank.

The other FEL valve that was installed, was that a factory valve or did someone just add a FEL valve, and did it have PB?

Before the loader was installed, do you know the hyd path from pump to the 3pt.

On the relief settings, whichever valve is first, set that relief to 50 PSI below the pump max pressure or your system pressure of 1700 psi.

All reliefs should be set the same, as the first relief will set the limit for the hyd system.

Did you try the plug that is still in your PB fitting? It just might fit, some well.
Might save you a road trip.

Immediate problem resolved!

Replaced the fitting in my PB with a simple plug and now the FEL works as it should.

re: old setup: The original valve was on the tractor when I bought it. There was no FEL. I bought a new FEL originally for a cub cadet and built my own mounting frame. Attached the hoses and off we went.

At that time the route was pump, switchover valve, FEL and back to tank.
The old valve (no name or numbers) did not have a PB port.

It kept freezing in cold weather (you remember cold weather JJ?) and had a bad habit not returning to idle, so I bought this Easton valve.

I discovered that half of the disconnects were 1/4" and half were 3/8". SO I have rationalized everything to 3/8" like the loader, and with your help have solved my squealing issue. The loader works faster and now picks up the front end on down pressure, which it never did before.

The new route is the same as the old route, the only change is a potential PB. I cant imagine needing that since this is mostly for firewood harvesting.
Switching from 3ph to FEL is not a big issue but if it were to become one, I know from this thread how to do so.

So: mission accomplished. Thanks for your time. At some point I will upload photos of my homemade dual wheel setup, which on this terrain makes a world of difference. DP

I sure would like to see that!!! By the way save that PB fitting, you might need it later on.
