Help with getting rid of Deer flys

Have some Velcro and blue cups, need to order some Tanglefoot. The demons are getting stronger everyday. :bumblebee:

Oh man, you mean the deer fly season in Indiana has already started? Yikes! If we're on schedule here in Michigan, we won't see any until the beginning of July. Would love to hear how many flies you're catching.

Hey UmbrellaGirl good to hear from you again. :) Put the first deerfly patch on the back of my cap this morning. The KIA body count for today is 21! :bumblebee:

Wait, I thought your blog post from last year said the average season is mid-June to mid-August? Ok, only a couple weeks difference, but, just curious.

Funny we called them ear flies because they would eat up the ears on our mule and then there were no deer in these parts. I would break off a bushy limb and stick it in Jim's bridle so he could swipe his ears and brush of the 'ear' flies. They would go for the tractor but it never complained.

You are right, deezler. On my blog I state "mid-late June to mid-late August". I don't usually think of them as a problem until about July 1. And I don't usually consider ourselves utterly and completely free of them until September 1. That's for a "normal" year. But, of course, it varies ever so slightly from year to year (with the 2012 season having been very, very unusually early). So, while we might get some in the 3rd or 4th week of June, I'm hoping we won't really be complaining about them until July 1. In any case, I'll be ready for them whenever they show up!!
