Cutter up. BTW it works great now and I don't have the frustration I used to have with the higher pins and the solid top link.

I like what you did and that would solve my problem too. I could go down about 3" and drill new holes but what a job that would be! That is some THICK metal I'd be drilling through.

What I do is shorten the lower connectors as much as possible and then extent the upper solid link until it forces the top of the rotary cutter back pivoting it on the lower connectors axis thereby lifting up the front enough for decent clearance.

I could use some more height though. I'll have to think about this...

I bought a 7/8" bit with a 1/2" shank and commenced to wear out my cordless drill after bringing it up to a 1/2" pilot hole. I would have to buy a heavy duty drill motor if I did this often. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Most rotary cutters (or the ones I have checked) have the lower link pins to high for compact tractors. You would think that by now the manufactures would have figured out were to put them for compact tractors. Older Woods cutters like the one I have, have an extra set of holes that are in the right place for compacts. I don't know if the new Woods mowers have them or not.
