While I agree you shouldn't get off while brush-hogging, I have done so... In every instance I have done so, I have been on flat ground with no risk of rollaway, and what I was getting down for was to go to the front of the tractor and remove some limbs or something that I didn't want to risk my tires on. I would never walk around to the rear while it's running. Either way, no matter what the reason, good idea or not, the simple act of raising your butt from the seat shouldn't risk breaking something. An operator presence switch on anything large enough to have a traditional PTO is sorta silly considering there are several PTO implements that don't need an operator in the seat.
