Helpful neighbor!

About ten years ago I was helping my friend who had an HVAC/Plumbing/Electric business. He had agreed to help out this young gal who had herself in a situation to say the least. She and her boyfriend had a log cabin built only to have the boyfriend bail. The boyfriend was to do the utilities so the builder agreed to plumb and wire the house but then he bailed too.

Though none of us had much experiance with log cabins, even the village idiot could see this one was poorly built. The plumbing and wiring not much better. I went over the wiring, another guy redid the plumbing and the boss did the HVAC which fortunately had not been done at all. We did our part and moved on then my friend cut back to a one man band so I moved on as well.

He later told me that a neighbor had complained. Seems the cabin was built over the property line. In the end, the cabin caught fire and burned down. No cause was ever found. Hmmm.

What is the latest on your court battle, or make that a "holding action". How about an update?

No not really. So far she has paid a grand total of $565.00. She still owes me $2,641.66. July 8 back to court.

Shield Arc, please keep updating this thread. Just finished reading it start to finish.
I too had/have a druggy neighbor that was batshit crazy over the property line. Started a few years ago that my propane tank was on her side. This is just empty space between us not being used. Anyway, I rechecked the pins, made sure I was right and said hellwithit and moved the tank back some on my side.
Got worse and worse. Couldn't really show my *** because I work out on the road and house sits empty but camera'd up for months at a time. Great neighbors on other side of her keep an eye on things but always was uneasy about leaving the place.
She brought people in to recheck line and they told her same thing.
Finally one night, her house caught on fire. (Be nice, I was first to run over there and drag her drunken *** back out the window she was trying to climb into!)
Insurance bought her a place back in town. I have a standing offer to buy her 1 acre but she'll never sell it. Specially to me. I own everything around her too front back and both sides.
Reminds me, I still have to go get another gas can I've misplaced somewhere....

While I have read the entire thread as it progressed, I can't remember if you put a lien on her property or if you were even able to put a lien on it. That way, she can't sell until she ponies up. I had to do that once for a business transaction for $1,200.

Everyone forgot about it until one day in the hot summer when I got a panicked call from a realtor trying to close the sale before the weekend. I wouldn't take the client's check so the realtor had her come up with the cash to get me to sign off. Karma feels pretty good when you're on the right side of it.
