Herbecide wick applicator

Has anyone used one of these?

Weed Thief, Hand Wick Applicator, Herbicide Applicator

Is it a useful tool to have?
How does it work, do you pour straight Roundup (as an example) in it or will it need an additive?
The big ag applicators I remember from my youth used a product that was the consistency of syrup.

Not sure bout the hand held models, but I have several of the tractor mounted ones. they never was used much around here as they only put chemical on the weeds that stick above the crop and leave the smaller stuff.
In my opinion, IF you have let weeds get this tall, you have major damage to your crop and might as well plow it all under and start over. Weeds gotta be dealt with when a few inches tall.

It says to use a weed killer solution so I suspect that means you dilute your Roundup to the appropriate mixture. I note it's supposed to deal with unwanted weeds. Does that mean there may be some you want?

I have one from Rural King, same one I think. Works fine with normal mix rate or slightly stronger. It’s handy for tall weeds like thistles above other plants, or for use on windy days to avoid drift.

I would say a proper question. Of course a weed is something growing where you don't want it. It is amazing how some describe their product. Was looking at herbicides this weekend for clover in lawns. One truly customer caring web site had honest reviews (this was them saying this) and the one they recommend was 41% glyphosate. Some of their comments were if you needed more you just added more water and in higher contraction it would kill grass. LOL, wondered how many people will buy based upon their recommendation and lose their lawn.

Once you fill it the wick stays wet and nearly dripping. It's made to fill, use, and then rinse and clean so it can dry before storage.

Several guys around here 50 years ago made them and there is nothing to them , just pvc, rope and drill a bunch of holes and stick the rope in. ----- as soon as roundup ready crops came on the market, the ropes were junked due to not working on the smaller weeds under the crops.
