A series of articles that describes, among other things, the pros and cons of filtering at differing points in a hydraulic system can be found at Hydraulic Tutorials.

They are well worth reading before you start modifying the hydraulic system.

Thanks for the link. Reviewing the section on hydrostatic transmissions Is this problem destroying your hydrostatic transmission? I think I found the cause of my pump failures. Cavatation as a result of stalling out the tram circuit.

When picking up my tractor Terry said to work it hard while it was under warranty and I did. Well I guess I need to back off a bit :D.

You are welcome.

If your tram pump is a Bondioli & Pavesi as was suggested, you should be able to download documentation from their web site.

"We've never heard of that happening before," is possibly a well used recording with Terry's voice being synthesized by Power Trac's master computer (analog). It is probably triggered by a button in the sales office.

I think your over complicating this, it's only real to real tape looped together.

I'll admit this does seem pretty unusual, i wonder if in your case, the assembly practices were possibly a little dirty like say on fridays or mondays.

My tram pump started leaking pretty bad after a month and had to be replaced. It was leaking around the oil seals.

I believe their technology predates magnetic tape for voice; probably a wood-fired steam powered abacus. :)

Well I found it. My 2008 model 422 has a Bondioli NT10 tram pump. A Bondioli sales rep in Virginia was very helpful with both identifying my pump and finding a local repair facility I can work with if it breaks again.

Once I knew the model number I was able to find documentation on the NT10 via the web. The documentation does not help much with my issue but at least I have something!

Did you ever find a price on this pump?

I did not look into purchasing one just to find out where to get on worked on. Price was not the issue as it was still inder warrenty. I now know I have a repair shop ninty miles from home. So if it breaks again I know where to go, not PT as this will be on my dime.
