DannyD,

Glad you weren't too beat up by those hornets. This reminds me of an incident that happened a couple of weeks ago at my house. I was putting up one of those above ground $200 pools and my 2 year old son was "helping". Well, we were finding all kinds of creepy crawly things but one was unexpected. I picked up the bucket that I'd left out over winter and to my surprise there was a very large wasp nest in it. Into the woods it went as the wasps boiled out, and I scooped up the boy and RAN. Now I'm not the world's fastest runner, and I'm not really built for running, but I sure outran those wasps. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

After they settled down, I toasted them with a long-distance spray. That stuff works!

At least with bees, I could get honey with my stings. Have not had REAL honey since my grandmother died back in the early 70's........you know the kind with the cone, and in a mason jar, not double sealed, vaccuum packed and sold in stores.

I am going to Ortho them, then burn the nest, just to let those out to bother someone else they are not welcome back.

These were at eye level sitting on a BX2200......that hole looked about the size of watermelon when I saw what I had hit with my head.

My neighbor is a useless .................... He left his wife and kids to join up to the fire dept. That is why I try to help her out. She has no one.......her boyfriend is worse than the ex. Her landlord should be...............hey wait a minute, HE can take care of the nest. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Know the stuff well. I spent 8 years working in hardware stores.........when they truly were hardware stores. it works great, and shots a very long distance. After that, some off road diesel and a torch should let those not at home when I spray know...........not welcome back

Not for this one. He does NOTHING, and he owns sefveral of the homes in our neighborhood. I pay less in payments than he gets for rent.

Can you get closer and get a better picture? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Just kidding. But ya those aren't bees and they won't bother too much if your not doing things too close. But if you have to get rid of them, just nock them down and the ants will take care of them.

...Or you can wait till winter and knock down the nest then...

I have a cousin that found one he thought was real purty once while hunting and decided to take it home with him. He didn't know that the critters were still in there so what does he do? He puts the nest in the vehicle with him and turned on the heater. Well after a few miles it got pretty warm in there and they came alive and started pouring from the nest. Fortunately he didn't get stung ...but he did abandon the vehicle in the middle of the road for several hours.

Just be cautious if you do that in winter.
