<font color="green">DannyD,
As I sprayed the nest, none of the hornets exited. It was much later at night than when you sprayed so I am starting to think that right after dusk may be a better time to spray instead of waiting much later. The instructions on the can mention after dusk and before dawn. I took that to mean at night but maybe the hornets were too much at rest when I sprayed and you need to hit them when they are inactive but not too inactive.
Someone here at work suggested using my son's shotgun to take out the nest!
