Poor boy,

I was in Salyersville today headed to Prestonsburg. Filled up at 2.99 per gal with 75.00 limit on fillups.

It was the same when I came back. One place was 3.29, bp I think on 114 at the parkway.

Danny,

This was in West Liberty. But my wife filled up in Salyersville this evening on her way home for 3.09 the cheepest according to her.

What were you doing in this neck of the woods?

Just looked at my orginal post and saw the 20.00 limit. I meant to say 20 gallon limit.

Today I stopped at 2 stations that I visit quite often depending on thier gas prices. One, Cumberland Farms had a price of $3.11 when I drove by on my way to the Post Office. Five minutes later the price was $3.19. So I stopped to ask how the price went up and no gas was delivered. The lady smiled and said they had a second call today from upper echelon to raise the price again. The price at 8 am was $2.77. No gas deliveries were made today. This is in fact price gouging. Now the Mobil station 100 yards away was selling gas for $2.89. Hmm, $.30 cheaper and they got my business today. So much that I filled the car up and 4 cans to fill my pickup truck and mower. The owner asked if I was stocking up. I said, not at all. It's cheaper to use my car to come here for gas than it is to use my truck. He laughed and said, That's using your head. He also said the price is going up tomorrow. Later in the day the wife stopped at another local place. Thier price was also $2.89. Somebody is r--ing somebody here with these ridiculus prices of $3.++.

I am a computer technician for dentist offices, had a customer down there that could not compute. My area covers most of the state of Ky, parts of IN and TN. Will be back down there next Friday, another office though

One immeadiate solution is to require that ethenol be blended into ALL grades of gas and require its use in the lower 48 states.

Advantages: home grown and renewable, lower emissions, blended gas will increase the oil supply (less refined oil per gallon), source is not controlled by OPEC, refineries are not owned by the oil companies, higher octane then "regular", farmers get a higher price per bushel than on the commodities market and my family owns stock in the local Ethenol plant /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

A Bill is currently making its way through Congress requiring this.

I thought I read a recent study that found ethenol takes more energy to produce than it produces... ie, it takes 1.X amounts of energy to produce 1 amount of ethenol. Anyone else read that or have better information?

I was in prestonburg at the hospital haveing a stress echo test. Gas went up to $3.29 yesterday evening. Some strip mines have shut down because they cant get fuel. I have noticed a big decrease in coal trucks running by my home. Some gas stations are having trouble getting gas. I bought a can of diesel for $2.79 a gallon , and a mile down the road the station was $2.95. I wonder if ashland oil has a shortage or station owners are making one. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

It has gotten hard to find diesel in my area. Gas is $2.89 I believe at the corner store.
