I found this article interesting this morning on FOX news. Maybe common sense will get some traction.

EPA is pressured to drop ethanol mandate while drought drives corn prices up | Fox News

This sounds absolutely true to me. From your linked article:
"Once it's entrenched, you have a locked-in lobby that won't let you pry it out," Green said. "No matter that your environmental groups have walked away from it, international groups have walked away from it. Everybody has acknowledged it's bad public policy, but it's dug in like a tick."

Environmentalists are likely to believe we should be eating grass-fed beef, so the conflict between corn fuel/food as far as beef goes, is besides the point. Environmentalists have plenty of reasons to be unhappy with Obama, he remains a far better choice than the alternatives however.

Jeez, not my intention to go down that road, just offering a perspective that what some people think of as a "Liberal" stance has many variations and flavors within it, like most others. An environmentalist voting for the alternative would be as rare as an endangered species

Hey ... Good discussion. Seems to be self correcting to focus on the locus of valid points to the issues.

I thought endangered species were pretty common today. Just that the numbers or each species were diminished.:)
