hesston 530 problem

will only make about a 48" bale and it should bale up to 54". even if you keep feeding it until the pick up stops turning will not bale a full 54" any ideas/advice on this??

Have belts been relaced and therefore shortened?

no they haven't,.. i adjusted the safety rod on the pick up and got it up to a 52" bale today
