I dunno Dargo but most people with holes in their nuts  wouldn't be seeking public commentary on their misfortune :D . Besides, Soundguy's four foot cheater is more likely to inspire shock and awe if not envy.

Aww, shucks. Hey, at least I've come through rehab on my arm relatively well for a mid 40's guy who had his elbow reconstructed a couple of years ago when I blew it out in a contest. Two years ago, right after the surgery, I couldn't pick up a can of soda with that arm. It's better now. You know, I gotta keep up my strength enough to be able to destroy the HF tools so I can talk bad about them. :)

What Chris...no comment about my 6" nuts? :D

The nuts were pretty neat.. however.. the bicep was the attention getter!

Well.. ok.. there may have been a slight amount of exageration to that.. It might have been more like 3' 8" ;-)

Thanks. I took rehab pretty seriously. I'll never be 25 again, but I can once again break my share of tools if I get ticked. :D I guess I posted that pic as sort of a disclaimer that a tool may not exactly be junk if I can break it. :)

Actually, there is a story behind why I was given that huge nut after that job. The guys with me gave me that nut and said, "here, now you have something you can't break!" You should look up the price of a 6" coarse thread grade 8 nut. I think it costs about $400 or something like that.

And here I thought i was doing good by twisting a front stud off my 7610s using a 't' lugwrench....

Clearly my 'cornsnakes' aren't anywhere near your 'pythons'.

In case you miss it in "the other" HF post, they replaced the broken extension yesterday, no questions asked, plus they sold me the set that they took my replacement extension out of for $25. Got a spare set to keep up in TN with the tractor now!

Largest nut I ever torqued was about 4.5" @ 1200 ft/lbs. Normally we used a 4X torque multiplier, but newbies to engineering all got the chance to pull it with a 6' bar (I did, but I was also 19 at the time). Attached is a pic of an exhaust valve from the engine the big nut was head bolt on. Valve is 4.25" diameter, 14.25" tall.

I've got the 3/4 set also, busted the 15/16, yup, cheater bar.

Guess I'll test out their replacement policy.

Yup, I can see that if you use a cheater bar. Otherwise, a 3/4" drive set should be strong enough to hold up to most use. I think using a cheater bar or a hammer would break them. I can break almost all 1/2" sets even without a cheater bar, but the cheaper ones break relatively easy as compared to quality sets. If I really pulled hard with a China made 3/4" set I think I might be able to break the set, but I seriously doubt I can break the 1" drive set by hand; even with them being the cheap stuff.
