Ordered the Gaters last night...supposed to ship today, (wednesday). Also ordered a new belt. Still have the original and no signs of wear, cracking or fraying. But 1300hrs, 4 1/2 yrs old, >not all mowing<...probably worth replacing if I'm going to use these 'super' blades. It would be nice if they showed up tomorrow...it's time to mow again. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

My rear discharge manual states to run the mower efficiently- "Tractor engine speed while mowing should be at maximum rated RPM"....which is 2600rpm or slightly higher than the 540 pto speed mark. Yet the engine will top out at about 2900 rpm. Also no light on my 99' TC21D, so I just run it at 2600 rpm. Is there supposed to be a light?

Wonder if I should run the mower at 2800-2900? Never have, but can't see what harm could result from doing this. What did you do run at when you had your TC21?

On my 21 and my 29 I run at PTO speed. I just keep it high on the 29 until I bump my red light on and off. Last night I had to mow after some heavy rains. I really had to slow down as I was mowing some pretty heavy tall grass that was even damp yet from the morning rains.

Looking forward to your report on the gators.

I was asking my dealer about high lift, he thought that the deck would have shipped with them as standard. No good picture available to compare and none in stock either. Next time I have the deck off, I'll snap a pic of my blades & hopefully the TBN brain trust will be able to tell me if they are high lift or standard.

My gators ran about 18.00 a piece. I crank up the mower to full power and go at that. Normally it will keep at around 540 as the keeping the 72 inch unit does take some power to cut grass on a 33. Of course with everything depends on the type of grass, height, wet or not and so on. But I find normal week to week mowing will allow me full power and still maintain 540 PTO speed. ..

When I decided that I wanted the Gator blade I called Gator direct and told them what I had for a mower. They told me they had a contract with New Holland and could not sell me blades direct that fit the New Holland mower. They would sell me their generic blade and then gave me a price. It was $10.00 a blade more than the New Holland price. So I bought from New Holland.
