Sorry to hear that Stanley. We bought the MDE2400AYW dryer and MAH2400AWW washer from Sears 5/4/05 so they're almost a year old. They replaced a 10 year old Kenmore washer and dryer that were still working. I had replaced the pump in the washer when it sprung a leak after about 5 years, so it had been another 5 years, and my wife thought for some reason that the dryer was on its last legs. The main reason we bought what we did, and paid a premium price, was because I wanted the small, compact units because of the size of the spot they occupied in our mobile home. I wanted to have room to move them in and out easily if I ever had to work on them. And I thought the small ones would also be lighter.
OK, I made more dumb mistakes. #1, We bought them in May, then in September we sold the mobile home and bought a house with plenty of room in the garage for standard sized machines. #2, they're small, but that washing machine has got to be heaviest one I ever moved (or maybe I'm just getting weaker in my old age). #3, with all the fancy electronics, I'll never work on them myself anyway.
However, I did one other thing different. I generally do not believe in or buy extended warranties, but in this case, I did buy their 3 year warranty when I bought these machines. And so far, they're working well.
