LS XR4040
Hey all, these forums tend to be a lot of issues and breakdowns by nature. Does anyone have a higher hour LS they want to brag about? I'd like to hear more from guys that are doing well with their machine.

Mine is only two years old with a little over 200 hours, so far it’s been trouble free and I would most likely choose LS if I was buying another new tractor.

Not high hour but its 350+ for a 2018. Now that I own the hours will climb, I've put 150 on since late july.

Not mine but there was an LS R50 for sale here sometime ago with 6840 hours. I have a thread with pictures here: 2010 LS R50 with 6840 hours!

Over 2 and 3 thousands hours is very common and are everywhere here, some more, some less. Same applies for any South Korean brand.

220 hours on my 2021 and I am still loving it.

I'm not usually the type to bring this up, but this topic has been covered quite a bit.
Here is a link to a 'recent' thread:

The reason I do bring it up is because yes, many people only post about issues and hardly anyone ever posts about success. High hours is something to be proud of, but issues will always be a thing. LS is not a very old tractor company with a very small market share, especially here in the US. These tractors are also typically only used by home owners with a bit of land, not major farming operations where a tractor will be running for weeks on end, only shutting down to get fueled. So comparing the LS to others, might be misleading. Mix that with other reasons, and you will typically see the high end around 500 hours average (so far) for an LS on this site.

On this site, high hours is probably under 1000 lifetime but in a real world ag situation, that is chump change. I have over 6K hours on one of my M series Kubota's (6800 actually) and 3K on another. Have a good friend with a JD 4020 Diesel that has rolled over the hour meter on one rebuild.

2013 with 710 hrs. Only problem was a front wheel bearing failure, took 2 months to get parts last year. Still has the original battery in it! I love it ( pre-emissions) no electronic junk or goofy codes to worry about!👍😁

I've got just under 600 hours on my 2012 R4047H, and have had a front wheel bearing failure as well, but that's about it. Original battery, as well. Oh, fuel gauge doesn't work.

~235hrs on my 2020 MT 240HE, no problems other than a code displayed once early on but cleared after a restart and has never returned.

It looks like most if not all of these tractors are purchased for light use for hobby farms or horse ranches and such. That makes sense given the lower price. Lots of these users tend to put about 1 hr a week on the machine or 1k hrs in 20 yrs. Heavy or commercial users would tend to shy away from the cheapest tool available.

Be frugal, never cheap.

Just because something costs less, does not make it cheap junk. And being smart with money, not over paying for a name, is probably the best decision anyone could make.

I don't think anybody said junk...Assuming the lower priced item is the same function and quality as the higher priced item - then yes, why pay more?
But history and economics tell us otherwise. So pay more if you need more. Automobiles are a good example of this. Many people buy economical solutions to their transportation needs. Others buy luxury models that get them to the same destination. And may see the BMW or MB owner as foolish until both the Smart car and BMW are T-boned by a pickup and the BMW driver walks away.
But again - do get the best tool for the job.
And don't buy a Caterpillar if all you need is a shovel.
Cheers

Guy that was renting the pasture ground before us had a cabbed LS for farming and loved it. We never talked hours, though. Mine is at 418 hrs. So far just a seal in front axle and this pesky code issue I'm waiting to diagnose. Certainly wasn't bashing. I love the tractor. Just trying to figure out what to look for. I have made a few mistakes along the way (leading to the axle seal issue, IMO) and I'll try to be a bit nicer too it. I just wanted to see what might be in store if I hit 2000-3000 hrs.

Heck I feel like people don’t use tractors for much these days. I only have 155 hours on my 7 month old MT573. But so far it’s been problem free and a joy to run. My only complaint is fuel ain’t free ! But luckily this units been very fuel friendly. Hopefully it last as long as the old family Kioti.

275 hours on my '20 xr3140H, All good times so far. For two years that's an average of 137.5 hours per year.

Use it year round, gets most hours in spring on the tree farm. Less use as the year wears on.

The 790 Deere has 1200 some odd hours on it, bought it new in '07. So in 15 years that averaged out to 80 hours BUT, the 790 has had easy duty last 2 years after the cabbed LS showed up. Figger that in, its average per year is 92 hours....

Everything is just better done in a climate controlled cab😁
