The photo's don't show it, but the road right there has a 3-4 degree cant to the holler side for drainage purposes. With a sheet of ice on it, that was just enough to let the UTV slide right off. Looking now at adding a cable, or guard rail for "next year".................

Holy cow !! sure are glad you are alright.

I was at our lake house last week and took the Polarid 570 ranger out to go down to the dock. Stopped at the top of the lake lot to survey before I went over in the snow/ice decide not to go and pulled away but not far enough and slid sideways on the hill hitting a tree, I backed off that tree but slid to another. Like a dummy I put my hand out and got it caught between the rollbar and the tree. Thought I broke it as it was bloody and swollen. Had to get the truck out to have something to winch too. Ended up driving home to Ohio after wards. Ice and hills are treacherous for sure.

I tore three ligaments attaching the collar bone to the scapula:

Surgery is scheduled for 0730 Wednesday. Turns out the surgeon I got referred to invented the very device to repair this type of injury. It's simple, drill a hole through the end of the collar bone & down through the scapula. Pull a heavy gauge high tensile suture grade rope through the hole. Attach a SS washer on one side, crank it down & pull the two parts back together like they are supposed to be...attach second washer to hold everything in place. Wait a couple of months until the ligaments grow back together...done.

I haven't read every page of this thread so apologies if repeating. If still looking for info, you might check out ATV Connection. They have very active forums and while I haven't been there in a while I recall a good bit of feedback on Chinese ATVs and UTVs. The consensus was that they just don't last very long. They look cool at the store and are essentially aimed at impulse buyers -- one's who aren't going to do a lot of research. BJs periodically carries a few kid-sized ATVs and I've been tempted. But this stuff breaks -- axels, frames, brakes, air box, et al -- and parts can be tough to get. Maybe things have gotten better in recent years but there's a reason Honda, Yamaha, Arctic Cat, et al maintain a dealer network.

You really might want to take the time to read the whole thread. American Sportworks utilizes parts from many sources worldwide & they have two assembly plants here in the US. Every single part is available on-line on their website. Click on the part, add it to a shopping cart, estimate shipping & pay. I just ordered a new roof, folding windshield, rr fender, and a front receiver hitch. The total was $600 w/shipping & it all shipped from Indiana:

1 ea.2-18303 Rear Fender$19.40
1 ea.2-18328 Roof Kit$199.99
1 ea.2-18411 Folding Windshield Kit$199.99
1 ea.2-40729 2" Front Receiver Kit for 4wd UTV$49.99
1 ea.2-55081 Rear View Mirror Kit$27.99

$497.36
Sub-Total:

Sales Tax:

American SportWorks

This machine is no comparison to a 100% chinese built machines that are drop shipped in containers and have no dealer support.
