This might be better in the Garden section but I was just in Home Depot and they were setting up their JD display complete with a large selection of JD LTs. I am only posting this in the event some of you guys might be in the market. I don't care for box stores but that is neither here nor there, just letting it be known they seemed to have a nice selection. J

Were they "LT" or "L" models? I understood that they were only going to sell L's at HD. I saw some L's at my local dealer the other day. Looks like they are mainly "changing the color" on the old Saber machines...

Anybody know where the L's are made/assembled? "Value" seems to be better than the LT models - ie: a lot of the L's have cruise control and larger tires than comparable LTs...

Most Home Depot's will be selling 5 JD models.
L100,L110,L120,L130,and G100.
If you are looking for something to just mow the lawn, check them out, they range from 17 to 25 HP.

I've already got an LT for my lawn. I'll be curious to see how they "position" the L vs. the LT... (When I bought the LT I thought the "value proposition" was a little weak... I'd probably buy an L now... It will be interesting to see how the LT line does when there is now a comparable "true JD Greene" machine available at a lower price)

TresCows,

Will HD have any Diesel models?

Ken,

The info I have on the JD L & G lines does not include a diesel. The biggest unit is the 25hp V-Twin Kohler powered G100. (I think this is the Sabre G100 with different paint.)

They will not be selling a diesel model.

According to my JD dealer,
JD brought out the "L" line to "Compete" against the Sears Craftsman and similiar type of lawn tractors. That would lead me to believe that there fall under the "LT" series.

I understand why they brought out the "L" line. My question is - could your dealer explain why you would want to buy an LT over an L? The argument for getting a Deere product vs. a Craftman etc. was "higher quality", better service, and - for me - better resale. And you paid for this. Feature vs. feature the LT's don't offer much vs. the Sears models. Now Deere offers a lower priced unit - that appears to have equal features vs. the LT... So - why would I buy the LT? What does it offer that the L's don't? I can't imagine the Deere dealer would say the L has "better quality than the Sears, but not as good as the LT..." or "We don't treat our L customers as well as our LT customers..."

Seems like lots of overlap at the bottom of the Deere lawn tractor line....

Here is a question, I guess that Home Depot now carries JD labled units they will no longer sell the Scott's brand relabled JD tractors? I never understood the Scotts thing anyway so I guess this is a good thing. No, I did not notice if they were L or LT. When I wrote LT I meant the generic term LT for Lawn Tractor. They had several sizes of these units and were unloading more. It was kinda funny. One of the stock boys told the other stock boy---"hey, you gotta sit on one of these, they are so rad" or something like that, I am not making that up. I almost slipped down in all the drool from everyone hanging around looking at them and admiring them and sitting on them. J
