Homemade Hydraulic angle on Rear Blade

I enjoyed the video about the rake. When the same movement is applied to a rear blade many users will wonder why it was not done sooner. The blade becomes a tool that you mold and control the material that you are moving. When you locked in by mechanical pin position, the blade is a slab of steel. All road graders have a levers to control the moldboard.

My blade will spin 360, is held at the various angles by a tappered pin that fits into a notch. Seems that it would be easier to rig a "pin puller", then let it reseat with spring pressure after you hook the blade on a snow drift to move it to the approx position you want.
Anyone else tried this method?

First let me say to Craig Clayton .... Nice work adding the hydraulic cylinder to angle your blade :thumbsup: Makes a huge improvement being able to change the angle on the fly doesn't it? Your technique to figure out cylinder placement with a stick, tape and pencil lines works, there is a little trial and error involved but effective just the same.

Next to answer the question posed by pat32rf.....

With the use of a linear actuator or hydraulic cylinder, two wedges, a spring and viola, you have an "automated" retractable index pin.

I read the comments about shock loads and thought I'd put my 2 cents worth in on that. The shock loads are real but the fear of blowing everything up are unfounded, cylinders, hoses and valves are tested three times their rated capacity. Besides that, if you ever did catch a corner at high speed, blowing a hose or popping a cylinder are the least of your worries, most likely your going to bend or break metal beyond the point of repair. At slow speed your simply going to stop dead in your tracks before anything has a chance to "blow". Cylinder mounts, clevis ends, or retaining pins will break / shear off before the hose or cylinder ruptures.(IMHO).
