Neal,

Your project sounds exactly what I'm interested in. I live on Lake Fork and see you are from East Texas. That ANBO grapple is absolutely awesome, but looks to cost around $3200 dollars before shipping. I would love to see some pictures when you get ready. I don't think anyone will care that it isnt' painted yet. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif If I end up building something, that will be the prototype I'll try to match.

Since all of the logs/brush/debris is scattered throughout fairly heavy woods, it would be nice to be able to grab and pull like you mentioned. Being able to grab from the end and off center is something I really didn't think about. The forks wouldn't help much in that situation without something to clamp down.

Keith,

Coming from Lake Fork, we live about 45 mi past the intersection of I-20 & 69.

I don't think you would want to use mine as a pattern (at least all of it), but you certainly might pick up some ideas and I would be glad to show you where I had the most difficulty in design. Will also tell you the reasons I did what I did.

If you decide to build yourself, it might be worth a trip to see it. I will try to get a picture or 2 before long.

OK, I took some pictures today. Will start a new thread under "build it yourself" titled Neal's Root Rake Grapple.

But it could slide off of one side if load is not perfectly centered.
