I was going to post this earlier but my new Red Hat /Fedora operating system took some effort to conquer photo resizing.
My homemade sprayer. 35 gallon capacity, sprays 14' swath or less, 11.5 gallons per acre or a hand wand can be used.
1)The green tank under the 35 gal polyethylene is a "gathering tank" made from a fire extingrusor so I don't leave 2-3 gallons in the larger tank. The black hex with silver center at the side bottom of thr 35 gal tank is a plug to the original opening. I cut a hole in the very bottom so it go into the "gathering tank" to totally drain the larger tank
2) This shows the hose from the bottom of the tank going through the first filter and drain, then to the PTO pump and out the pump to the pressure and on/off valve. The insert shows the PTO pump with a metal bar that hits the drawbar tongue so it doesn't rotate.
3) This shows the pressure adjustment valve, the on/off lever, pressure gage and 2 d filter. The hook-up for the hand wand is right next the 2 d filter. When the valve is off the water/herbicide is recirculated which keeps things mixed up, when the valve is opened the herbicide is diverted to the nozzles out the back.
4) This shows the boom folded and extended and the hinge design along with yours truely. To spray off to the side or just the center I pinch the appropiate hose with a vise-grip. The 35 gal tank is tilted to the right so the "gathernig tank" gets all the herbicide.
The gathering tank rusts and I need the 2 filters. The nozzles clog easily. If I did it over the gathering tank would be plastic or stainless steel. As it is I park oil in the tank between uses.
The boom can be adjusted up those vertical tubes on the back.
I use 2 to 3 quarts of Round-Up (the 42 % stuff) in the 35 gallons and spray 3 acres early AM ( no wind !) and plant seedlings several hours later
