Hooks for LMB

I have been thinking about adding clevis hooks to my 5' LMB. Has anyone had experience with hooks on their LMB? I wonder if extra support needs to be added. I also saw a receiver welded on the middle of a front loader and with a hay spear in the receiver it was used to move round bales. I think my 1430 has enough weigh to handle both the LMB and a round bale if I am careful to avoid the PT puker.

I do not own a LMB but as many articles as I have read on TBN on hooks it seems like a very, very smart idea to beef up your bucket.

Personally, I'd beef it up. It is a nice bucket for light materials, but a hook concentrates a lot of force at one location.

Then again, you haven't said what you want to use the hook(s) for...

I will probably use the hooks only to secure bulky items to the bucket but will take everyones suggestion and beef up the bucket to be safe.

As an alternative, you could weld your bucket hooks all the way out at the ends of the bucket so that the sidewall of the bucket prevents the force on the hook from bending that top lip down...

However, due to the shape/angle of that lip, it may be just as easy to weld a piece of angle-iron reinforcement on it, then weld the hook to the angle iron.

More than one way to skin the cat....

I certainly wouldn't put much force on hooks mounted closer to the center of the bucket without reinforcing it -- although the way the PT's QA mounts in the center really makes it MUCH stronger than most CUT/SCUT buckets in that regard...

My HD rock bucket has a bracket welded to the center of it that Rich used for a ball mount, clevis, hook, etc. The bucket shows no ill effects from it...
