Hot Chicks for welding inspectors is great for shop morale

The basket gate is at the powder coaters so I am doing a fill in job for a friend. He wanted an all aluminum Razr bed for his 2012 Silverado pickemup. We have hot chicks for welding inspectors.

This is an all Miller project. I'm using my old Miller 250 Dialarc stick machine with an even older Miller high frequency box and an air cooled drag start heliarc torch. The Miller welding table is the cat's meow for this project. I have a bud who five years ago was making awesome welds on custom tool boxes for a major trailer builder and since retired helping me out with the welding. Client wanted a one of a kind bed because he is a one of a kind of guy.

We do one of a kind just fine.

The way I work is kind of like an image through a camera. The concept is out of focus a bit and as the project progresses it gets focused. This was kind of a shock to my bud the aluminum welder's system. "What? no drawings?"

The first thing we had to do was pull the shorts off the pickemup to see what was underneath.

I'll try to keep current. We are going to the powder coater this morning to pick out color. Instead of having an aluminum bed planted on a new truck we are going for a one of a kind design and color combination. We have parts at the water jet place being cut out, special stuff special ordered, and flying by the seat of our pants going to a whole nother level.

This truck will be the third vehicle in a tow package, Peterbuilt 385 four door Swalbe powered by a C13 Cat, 12 speed Meritor autoshift, Newmar Mountaire 37' fifth wheel (dual tandems), and this truck with a 2011 Razr on the bed, eighty feet of I've-done-it-my-way going down the highway.

I'm looking forward to seeing how this turns out. I'm in the market for a new truck and want to do something fancy to it with a headache rack and such.
