Don't they put up the "Ice On Bridge" signs when it drops below 100 degrees in Central Texas?:D

It's hit 100 every day this week and is expected to do so the rest of the week. Humidity levels are in the high 80% range, which isn't too bad. When it gets into the 90% range and over 100 degrees, it's time to call it a day. So far, I haven't had a day when it's been too warm to work outside, but I know those days are on the way. Both the husband and wife of the house I'm working on are doctors and they are indoors all day long at their clinics and hospitals. They get home at the heat of the day and check on me, but I just laugh and tell them that it's better then being outside when it's in the 60's or below.

yeah, considering I've had a fire in the fireplace most days in june this makes interesting reading. This june has felt a lot like November.

I grew up in the Tropics and South Florida without AC (my parents thought it was a waste of money. I disagreed, but got no vote). You get used to it, but you don't like it. I was well ready to go north and get away from the heat. But as I grow older New England is starting to get too darn cold. I lived in Virginia for 4 years and think that's probably close to perfect - moderately hot summers that don't last too long, moderately cool winters that don't last too long. I'd move back to Charlottesville in a heartbeat.

Charles, you're probably right, but then it also depends on where in Virginia. I remember one afternoon, when I rode my motorcycle from Quantico to go see Mt. Vernon and it was 94 degrees and 94% humidity; terrible afternoon to be on those hot streets and roads.

My Dad took a job in the Social Security offices in Baltimore in 1941-42 when I was a baby; moved there from Ardmore, OK. He said they told him that they closed the office and sent everyone home if the temperature hit 90 (no air-conditioning in those days, of course). He first thought that was funny because he was accustomed to working on the farm in Oklahoma when the temperature was over 100. But he said he learned. When it got over 90, they shut the office down, he went home and he and mother and I laid around in the grass in a city park, as did many other people, until sundown. Needless to say, they did not like Baltimore and moved back to Oklahoma.

But the oddest thing to me was that my Dad liked the Summer and did not like cold weather; didn't have air-conditioning in his home or business and even when he finally bought a car that had an air-conditioner, he almost never turned it on. And then he and mother moved to Anchorage in October, 1965, and loved it. It was hard for me to imagine my Dad camping out in a tent in the snow on hunting trips and loving every minute of it.

When I worked for IBM-NASA, I was asked to transfer to the Houston Space Center. NO WAY.
BTW, the family name is Dutch, pronounced, How-ston. The family still lives on Station Island.

It has been in the upper 90s here for over a week, and i try & get out early to get the hard work done.

I have a fan on my tractor & that really helps, and i keep a spray water bottle on the tractor and spray the mist of water on my face, and that helps cool me down.

I sweat easy so i drink a lot of ice tea & water.

I once rode my motorcycle about 100 miles without a shirt on, and i got sunburned real bad on my back and for several nights i couldn't sleep in the bed:D....Never again.

103 yesterday, forecast for the 100's next 10 days, and still no rain, under water rationing, starting to get bad.

I would say hills or mountains of Virginia, the flat lands in VA and MD are deadly in summer.

But I remember the summer weather in Rockies - that was something to die for.
