House for my Parents

just go ahead and block the windows with hanging things. For some reason...it is hard for me to convince myself to block a window.

It's still a great garage...but there are 7 windows in the car parking area, and two more in the shop area. I must have been out of my mind.

I have 11' ceilings and the top of the windows are at about 10'... too dang high to hang anything over them. I have 4 in one wall and 2 in the other so you have me beat but mine are pretty big windows ;)

I need a beam to span the great room, so I went to McCoys to order it. While there, the guy told me they had a couple of them laying around that where off of their inventory and that he could sell them to me for $5 a foot. I picked out a 2x16x20 foot one that was still wraped up in perfect condition. They wrote my name on it and I paid for it with instruction that I wanted it delivered with my materials to for the roof.

When I went in to pay for the roof, I was told that somebody had sold the beam. The store manager was sorry for this and ordered me a brand new one and removed the delivery fee from my roof order.

If you have a McCoys for you lumber, they are my favorite place to deal with for a very good reason!!!!

The walls are all framed except for the headers. My dad will do those while I'm at work during the week.

Eddie, the weather has been perfect for building with cool mornings and warm afternoons. I've been doing a lot of outside projects and cleaning up around my new ponds. We may get showers over the next couple of days and I really need the rain, but you've had much more rain lately than me and are probably ready for a break. I'm still thrilled everytime I see both your mom and dad being so involved. Don't tell her I said so, but your dad's work clothes seem more appropriate for the job. Can't you get her some overalls?;)

TOO FUNNY!!!!! My mom can get pretty dirty. I think her biggest passion in life is burning the burn pile. She will spend hours in the morning drivien all over the land in the Mule picking up sticks to start her fire, then spend hours getting it going. She can burn a green tree that came out that day down to nothing!!!! If you think she's dirty in that picture, you haven't seen anything compared to what she looks like after a day of burning in the middle of summer!!! :)

Your Mom's work clothes look like my wife's, just less holes. :)
