Totally fun day today. Got to dig the porch footings and as luck would have it our builder has a 4200 with a Woods backhoe /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif Here's a shot of Jeff the builder hard at work but the best part is that we popped a fitting /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif It was the best part 'cause Jeff left me to get the new fitting and finish the job while he headed off to the lake with his family /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

I know it's hard to see past the grin on my face, but that's a backhoe in my hands /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif Dug six of the eight footings. I'll finish the other two tomorrow as the siding guys were working in that area. Now to convince my wife I need one of these things /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Now that picture shows a man on a mission, then again, it shows someone having waaaaayyyyyyy to much fun. But heck a CUT is perfect for snow removal, landscaping stuff mover etc. Your wife should let you get one right away (after you move in.)

Okay, here's the updated pics. The roof is just about capped with plywood. They have a small area on the main roof to do and then the hand framing of the turrett beings, plywood etc and the porch roof and gable too.

Driveway side and all of our roofing materials are ready to go. I figure end of next week begining of the following week for the roofers.

OK. Now I've got to ask, why do they put the footing in after they build the porch? I've seen it done this way all over and I don't know why? Why isn't the footing poured first?

Way too much fun there!

Good question? Our footers were poured before they did any major framing of the porch. So I am wondering too?
