Full Gate Picture

I didn't explain earlier, but with the offset hinges and this 16' gate, the opening end of the gate rises about 5 times the offset at the hinge in both directions but yet is level when closed.

Went through it several times today. It is great.

YEAHHHH! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif Like that! That is great dude! I love seeing the ingenius stuff you guys build. It is totally inspiring!

It makes me wanna just go out in my cold, dark storage building right now and crank up my welder.

Great Job!

two can play that game

As much fun as it was figuring out the invention was figuring out how to make the invention. This was the reason I had to learn how to bend square tubing without fancy tooling.

Before I had the patent I'd already went to the above method of retaining the paper sacks. It's really about a torsion bar providing pressure.

So I had surpassed the patent before the patent was a patent.

What was fun was watching two white-shirt-with-ties engineers checking out how the torsion bar worked. They thought I was a wise guy when I explained it was all about the angle of the dangle.

Then when they took it apart one of them just shook his head and said, "he's right. It is about the angle of the dangle."

Harv, you may not be as old as me, but that makes me wonder if you had not seen workers filling gunny sacks at an old feed mill.

As a matter of fact, I vaguely remember filling gunny sacks for my dad on an old thrashing machine.

Like they say, necessity is the mother of invention.
