dave1949, I've been skimming through this thread and figured some one would mention the "EZ-Pour", not to advertise for a company, but I sure got tired of standing on the FEL bar with one foot, the other foot on the running board, at 10 degrees below zero, taking five or more minutes to fill my JD 4115 from 5 gal. "CARB" cans! I have converted two gas and two diesel cans to the "EZ-Pour". There may be other replacement spouts with vent options...not sure. Now it takes me less than a minute to fill the JD. Holding 5 gal. of diesel, balanced on the tractor, for five minutes, or more ain't getting any easier. They're heavier every year I tick past another birthday. There are "uTube" videos of installing the vent. Of course, the can has to be empty and vapor free. I would suggest, rather than use of a straight, wood/metal style bit for drilling the 1/2" hole, use a 1/2" "Forstner" bit, slowly, blowing out the plastic debris frequently, as well as cleaning the tip of the bit of the residue. Those cans are actually thicker plastic than I would have thought. I held my cans upside down when nearly drilled through, to reduce any plastic getting into the cans. Then, I took the compressor to them to blow out anything that did get inside. Of course, I use a funnel with a screen/filter when fueling the tractor, as well as filing the gas in my generator and such. As there are no kids running around here and I'm the only one who uses the cans, I see no point in the CARB cans. The bureaucrats that mandated those cans should try using them in real life! "They're from the government and here to help". Right!
