Not speaking to Fred's comments, just the situation in general.
There are some in this country who reach positions of power, and sustain them, by engaging in class warfare. They create confrontation between races, financial status, or just about anything else that will inflame passion. It matters none that these tactics rip at the core of our society, as long as they find enough low intelligence voters to turn out on election day.
Given there are far more middle/low income people, and ethnicities that are raised to see themselves as deserving victims, it's really quite easy to manipulate a selfish response. Well, we have finally reached the tipping point in the good ol' USA. Millions are no longer even bothering to look for work, foodstamps and other assistance are flowing like free beer - while ever smaller numbers are being taxed into oblivion to pay. It is the Marxist redistribution of wealth coming home to roost. Now, that the "majority" (those getting a free ride) outnumber the "minority" (those working and paying taxes), they can vote themselves benefits from the public trough. And, there is no end in sight.
The future of this country is quite bleak, in my opinion. The national debt, usually stated around 17 trillion, is actually well over 100 trillion when you toss in all the "off-the-books" obligations. It will NEVER be repaid, EVER! Sooner or later, especially when we lose our world reserve status, the financial house will come tumbling down. The Great Depression will be remembered as a picnic compared to what we, or our children, are soon to face.
I feel I have been greatly blessed as I move into my retirement years. Except for the farm toys, I am debt free. I have land with water and wildlife and have left the big city behind. I'm not doing the "prepper" thing but I am trying to become more independent. While there will be no true escape from calamity, I do believe things will be better for those who can take care of themselves.
Thank you God. Please heal our land.
