How do you know when the fuel tank is full?

i had continual problems with overfilling on both of my tractors with filler tubes high in the air. ended up getting sick and tired of hefting 5 gal cans of fuel to fill and purchased an Enduroplast 55 gal fuel tank with auto shut off electric pump. pumps 10 GPM and filler control has auto trip just like the gas stations. my back has thanked me many times

I continue filling until I see fuel at the top of the filler pipe.

One issue with that is, if you fill it to the top and put the cap on and park it immediately, the fuel can warm and expand and pee out the overflow on the ground. Been there did that before. My barn floor is sand so not an issue. Might be an issue if you store a tractor in say an attached garage. Diesel stinks.

I have a 55 gallon drum on a wooden dolly with casters under it and a fil-rite pump. I got the drum for free from a local town. They buy their engine oil by the 55 gallon drums and have to store them when empty until the next time the guy comes with a full drum. He just gave it to me. It had a quart of 5w45 oil in it but 50 gallons of diesel thinned that right out. I use the loader to take it out of the back of my truck or I have the fuel guy fill it when he's filling the house tanks with HHO. Either way it's not much work on my part and I no longer deal with 5 gallon jugs to fill the tractor.
