How do you use a FEL on snow

Global warming....don't buy it!!! There's just too much political leverage being applied to even take it seriously. Maybe I'll go and buy a second diesel truck....

Hey Trescrows, went to the flying field and got inverted. Shoulda pushed hard down...ended up pulling hard up....Bummer!/w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif Everything from the rear of the wing on the fusulage was gone. Wing was in tact so I was able to repair it. Used it as an excuse to buy a Great Planes 300 extra S Arf. Should have it done soon. Anyway...

This is a general reply to all, not directed at anyone in particular.

All I know is that it doesn't snow as much as it did when I was a kid. And, there are way more vehicles, houses and people now then there were then. And they all burn fuels. And where does all that stuff go that is ineffieciently burnt? Do you really think that the atmosphere is an infinite space that can handle all of this stuff?

Step back and take a look at your lifestyle. While you certainly have a right to run your tractor, drive your car, cook your food, and heat your home, are there ways that you could do it while using less fuel?

I'm not preaching. I drive cars and tractors and do all of this stuff too. I just make it a point to shut off my tractor when I'm not using it, don't idle a car for more than a few minutes, plan ahead to minimize trips, turn down the thermostat when I'm not home, etc... anything to conserve some use of fuel. Not because I can't afford it, but because it is the right thing to do.

I don't mean to state the obvious but if you turn your rear blade around so it's backwards it will move the snow just fine and won't dig in at all. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Global warming is happening and its doesn't take rock scientist to figure that one out. You simply compare temp. records from those of decades past. The cause and duration or whether its a natural occurance are probably open to debate. And by the way.......the world is not flat either.

Cummins owner and proud of it!! Thats why I don't let it idle more than needed. I want that baby to last for 400,000 miles. I hope to have by Kubota till it's considered a collectible.

i don't think it's just the snow and as for warming like a few others i don't buy it ok records show "warmest winter for 500 years!!"big deal ..pipes froze here this year at almost sea level has not happened for 150 years ,why are we getting more rain ,out of season snows ,longer dry spells ,floods.etc etc anyone else think spring is getting latter each year????our spring is ment to be frist of Sep but last few years mid Oct would be a better date ..i'm not saying burn fuels F@#k the earth ,we do need better use of fuels and better laws on smoke from fatorys etc etc better use of renewable prodacts (ie buy my wool!!! had to get a ad insome how)..ok other matter yep a FEL crowed would work ok would depend on how deep snow is tho it may want to ride out if to deep .blade on the back on a angle driven backwards may work ok too

We've had strange weather here as well. One year 22 below zero and the next year 50 above on the same date. When they talk warmest winter, or coldest summer they are taking an average of the entire world, not just the tempuratures at your place or mine.

In your reply you say we need better laws on smoke from factories. Why?

Look, you wouldn't suck air from your exhaust pipe, would you? Of course not. So I'll ask again... yes or no... Do you think the earth's atmosphere is an infinite space that can disperse all of this stuff that we(myself included) put into it?

The old analogy of "we've been doing it for years and nothing bad has happened" is just foolishness. They used to give people mercury to cure illnesses and store food in lead containers. Would you do that today?

All I'm asking is that you keep an open mind to the effects of burning fuels on our environment. Don't come out and say that since you don't believe in global warming it's a load of horse manure and your gonna buy a diesel just to prove it.

As to the original intent of this post, I had a gravel driveway that I plowed for years with a blade. It had skids that could be adjusted for height above the gravel. When I started using a bucket, I would also drop the bucket into float with the edge against the gravel, then curl back until the egde cleared the gravel by an inch or so. Worked great.

Now this I can believe in. I do believe that the warming we are experiencing is a natural occurance. I believe that the impact we have on the weather is miniscule when compared to the massive amounts of stuff poured into the atmosphere by natural phenomena. I don't believe that anything we do will reverse whatever is happening and that it is a cyclical event.

Now conserving energy is a whole other question. That I do but not to limit the exhaust gasses but rather to extend the duration that our exhaustable resources will be around. Heck, my diesel truck gets about twice the gas mileage as a comperable gas vehicle. But I am getting a little tired of being told by politicians that I must drive smaller cars driven by electricity that cost a fortune while Presidents are taking 3 jumbo jets full of people on a trip with them or are driving around in limos. Not exactly a whole lot of lead by example going on in this country.

On another note, I always find it amazing that when it is election year that hole in the ozone always seems to get bigger.... A lot of people are not going to take this stuff seriously until these issues are not used for political gain.

I'm not being provocative here, this is just what I think based on what I have heard and read. It's hard to wade through an issue when you can find equally competant scientists on both side of the fence./w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif
