How far away is your property?

I went in half on 308 acres with my wifes cousin. We were going to build an RV Park and develop the rest. Turned out he was all talk and totally unreliable. I sold 240 acres to my current neighbor, bought out my partner, divorced my wife and own the remaining 68 acres.

The land was half an hour from where I lived, but when I divorced my ex wife, she got the house and I got the land.

It went from driving out here every day, to living here in just a matter of a few weeks without planning on it that way.

Beat this guys... House I live in 2.25 acres... Rental house on 4 acres about quarter mile away... 37 acres in between and a small lot on the South China Sea about 8000 miles away! Yes 8000 miles... Don't get there very often!

Have 38 acres in the town I grew up in , ages 6 -17. Moved 150 miles south with parents during last year of highschool & have lived/worked in the same area ever since. I work a rotating shift including 2 weekends over a six week cycle. The last 11 days of the 6 weeks I can take vacation. Get 9 eleven day vacations (only 4 of 11 are paid) a year because of deferred holidays, etc. I go to "camp" at least 5 of those vacations & about 50% of the remaining weekends off ( the math gets a little fuzzy here !!!). Takes 2 hrs 45 minutes driving comfortably. Plan to retire there as soon as the housing market gets out of this slump. The equity in my house is worth double my pension over the next 20 years. We currently live on 4.5 Acres south of Greenville, SC in the suburbs. Recently we picked up 6.5 Acres north of Greenville in the mountains. Total driving time between home and the property is ~1 hour each way. I've been getting up there at least once a week lately. The wife doesn't join me up there but every third trip or so. That's OK

Own 10 acres in Scurry, about 40 minutes southeast of downtown Dallas. Live in Irving, about 15 minutes in the opposite direction. We are on the property every weekend, and go out Tuesday and Thursday evenings as well.

We have a horsetrailer with living quarters that we keep on the property as our weekend apartment/retreat.

We have 27 acres in the foothills below Sequoia National Park, 250 miles from our home in So. California. We try to make it up every-other weekend. I's a long drive and gas is expensive, but we love going up spending time in Nature. Lots of wildlife, plants, an Oak forest and small river nearby. We have a campground set up for our weekend excursions and vacations. That's where the tractor is too. We've owned the property for 4 years now and have started building our retirement home. It should be completed this Spring. We have a 1/2 mile long dirt road bulldozed in and a hard rock water well drilled (100+gals/min). Septic perculation is done and installed now. I've posted quite a few stories of my projects up there but every time w go up, it is just as exciting as the first time.

we bought 5 acers back in aug of 06. it is ~50 miles and almost an hr with avg traffic from our old house in the city of St. Louis. (actually in the city)

we made regular weekend trips till about june 07 (staying in our pop-up). by nov 07 we were living hear full time. (in a single wide trailer we had set in march 07)

It is 200 miles to our place in the North East Kingdom of Vermont. We live 20 miles outside of Boston and travel to our place every weekend accept for the dead of winter months. It is 100 acers with a house and some day I am going to move there for good! The house is Spring fed from up the hill with no need for a pump. The water taste great and flows nice and cold even during the dog days of August. and you can't beat the View. If I knew how to post a picture I would show you our view. Just a little piece of heaven.

We winter over in new Hampshire on 15, acres mostly woods, and call it home.

We also have a summer place that is 250 miles away in up state New York in the Adirondacks. We spend weeks at a time up there and then many weekends. With the price of gas just going for weekends is a bit limited these days.
