I live on 10 acres all woods. The hunting and rec land is 65 acres about 45 min away. All woods and 3rd generation of ownership, started hunting there with my grandfather,uncle, dad,and my brother. Now it's just my brother and I. So now I share it with my best friend, and a lot of memories.

We bought 35 acres of undeveloped land N.W. of Houston, Texas back in the spring of 2002. Owning a piece of land was always something the wife and I had wanted to do but never acted upon until that fateful day of 911. We realized after that day that life is too short and we should act upon our dreams. Takes us 1 hour 40 minutes from our Houston driveway to the property gate in normal traffic. We make an effort to get there every weekend if possible, however, our sons high school baseball season always slows things down during the spring making free weekends hard to come by. We try not to go more than three weeks without making at least a quick trip just to check on things.
Plans are to say adiós to the big city and move to the country once son heads off to college. Attached is a link to our website which shows the history of the work we've done in getting things ready in preparation of living there full time.

We have a "town house" 10 minutes from work and 54 acres 50-60 minutes that was my wife's family's farm. Our normal schedule in the winter is to drive over Thursday after work. During the other 3 seasons, we leave Wednesday after work. I have to admit that I prefer the 10 minute commute, but I'd always rather wake up in the country. Retirement is still a couple of years away.
We have had the property for nearly 20 years. I had such separation anxiety that I got started in home automation in the late 80s. I was always worried about what was going on while I wasn't around. I can now control the place from any Web browser in the world (heat/lights/security) and look out from the front porch and around the property with Web cams. I get an email every morning with the log of the last 24 hours events. I get emails (and phone calls if I'm really worried) when someone drives up the driveway, along with pictures. Still can hardly wait to be there full time.

We've got 50 acres in a rural area, and live right in the middle of it. Time wise, I'd guess about 30-60 seconds from my door to my barn (tractor), depending on whether or not it's cold or hot and whether I have to put a coat on or not.

I live on 0.4 acres. All neighborhood. Property is 22 acres and 25 miles away. I'm usually there 1 day a week on weekends. We should start building our new house in about 1-1/2 year and moving there a year after that.
