There, they're, their come to mind, also/too.
How about the words buy, by and bye also used a lot in the wrong context.
I have to confess that I sometimes automatically (fingers type one thing {think and thing get typed wrong all the time with me} while my mind is thinking something else) type a word that is wrong for the situation and I will sometimes catch it when I proof read the entry but sometimes I get in a hurry and forget to proof read before I hit enter. Then I have to go back and edit. I hate to misuse a word, but it isn't life threatening on TBN if it happens.

Speaking of uneducated people, I had a Yankee confess to me once that he thought all Southerners were dumb because of the way they talked. He then told me that I had changed his mind about Southern folk. That was to me a good compliment. ( There is another one complement or compliment. )

My wife and I also enjoy finding mistakes in the regional daily paper, or on printed posters or signs.

An old story: an editor of a small newspaper said he intentionally made errors because it made so many people happy to find them.

Auto-correct comes up with some interesting ward arrow subinstitutions.

I'm glad to see that nobody is getting all warped out of shape or their shorts in a twist. When I read a book, I ALWAYS have to use a short ruler to track down the lines. Otherwise, I'll sometimes read a paragraph as many as 4-5 times trying to get thru it all logically.

I really appreciate short paragraphs or double spacing between lines - it does help a lot.

I cannot hear at all, meaning communication with me is dependent upon CLEAR writing in many instances, or CAREFUL and WELL THOUGHT OUT verbal communication. People who are thoughtful enough to educate themselves to write and speak clearly endear themselves to me and others who have difficulty in understanding, be it by an inability to hear a spoken word or inability to understand careless writing and grammar.

Well said. I understand. I agree.

Myself and entire family are very grammar, spelling, punctuation, communication oriented. The written word is a window into the mind of the author.

Knowledge, carelessness, precision, awareness, education level, dexterity, sensitivity, sensibility, logic, or degrees thereof, are all on display for those who care to look.

I am forgiving, up to a point. Perfection is not expected. Typos happen, a balance is necessary between terseness and verbosity, I look initially for content, intent and appropriate response.

When the transgressions become so numerous as to hinder understanding, I initially become annoyed, or worse, depending on the degree of egregiousness. I have learned that a direct illumination of the problem is invariably unproductive. Thus, am typically silent on the topic. However, someone who continually falls into my basement of disrespect earns an "ignore" from me, both in TBN sense and my responses to them become extinct.

Yes, Carter made people up north wonder a bit. Coming from Vermont I always thought we tend to speak so fast up there because it's cold out and we like to keep our mouth shut. When I first started training soldiers in LA (Lower Alabama) at Ft. Rucker I had to consciously drop down my speech pattern significantly. Not because they were uneducated, they just were not use to rapid fire Yankee speech.

Some of us are visually and physically impaired. A lot of people seem to forget that when they go into their spelling and grammar rants.

I agree....but the result of such impairments is far above the level which jerks my chain. I like to think that my tolerance level recognizes when people make a genuine effort to achieve a reasonable level of written achievement.
