How long does it take U to do Maint.?

I can say that cleaning the hydraulic filter takes a little time considering having to wash it in gasoline and blowing it out with an air compressor.

Jake, please use something other than gasoline as we would like to see you continue posting for a long time. Try using mineral spirits, kerosene, varsol, or something similar. Granted they are all flammable; but gas seems to be the most volatile and dangerous.

As for the time it takes to do a major 200-hour service, I'm unfortunately in the Captain Slow camp. The worst is the mess I inevitably make draining the tranny and coolant, followed by the cleanup.

About a month as soon as snow melts for tractors and seeding eq and then another month for combines swathers trucks etc in june but this will include the odd in-frame, tranny job , final drives ..heavy stuff ,.
For a "service" Just oil , filters,grease etc .....probably 4 days a year !
Also the unexpected stuff like a water pump on a tractor cost us 4 hrs yesterday and diaphragm in sprayer pump cost 3 hrs tonight.

OK, pick nits if you want; but I'm more concerned about Jake becoming a Crispy Critter from using gasoline as a solvent instead of something better suited safety wise for the purpose.

Daily pre-operation check should take about 10 to 15 minutes to do a good job.

On average, 400 hour/semi-annual lube-oil-filter change should take roughly an hour and a half if you have all the tools, materials, and fluids readily available.
That doesn't include servicing your hydraulic system, which should take another hour and a half in itself.

A lot depends on the make and model of the tractor. As with automobiles, (seems like) some tractors were designed by people who never considered actually maintaining them; or just as bad, thought every owner had a fully equipped maintenance shop and a half dozen apprentices to help him.
