How long to cycle glow plugs

I hear that! What do we have left, a year or so?

Hmm, it appears that we still will be graciously permitted to buy these lightbulbs in the US, now.

it says turn the glow plugs on for 10 secs if temp is below 40.i think ive used the glow plug once this winter.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but my impression of a glow plug is to create a hot-spot to initiate combustion. As such, the plug is either lit or not - like a little car cigarette lighter that turns red hot w/in a few seconds. So, if 10 seconds lights the plug, than that's it, regardless of temp. Any additional glow plug time simply wears out the plugs faster.

Any comments?
