Saw a similar thread in the Kioti Forums and figured it would work out well in the Yanmar forums. How many hours does your tractor have on it? What have you added to customize your tractor? Pictures welcome.

My YM169D has a little over 1110 hours on it, still runs and works great. Very few issues with it, has been a great first tractor. As far as customizing goes, I have added a front grill guard and added telescopic lower links to the 3 point hitch to achieve better lift heights.

This one is going to be all over the place. Us guys with the older 3 didgit hour meter have no idea what the hours are? Mine says like 110is or something i think? Im not really sure, but i got it as a recon and had 19 hours or something on it. I have no idea how many hours are on it. Even if i bought it as is with the meter reading 110 today you have no idea of knowing if that is 1110 or 2110 or even more.

'87 276D... 1040 hours. Love it. Punches way above it's weight.

It's not mine but I have a friend with a Deere F series mower w/ 22 HP Yanmar 3 cylinder. He bought it from his employer, who bought it new and it now has 12,000+ Hrs and still running. He put new rings in it last year and that's the only work the engine has ever had on it.

1200, 2200, unknown, as only have the 3 digit meter as well. I expect it will last at least 12,000 before any work is needed. I am also a sail boater, and in the marine Yanmars, 12-20K hours is normal. I expect the tractors to last that long as well.

My Yanmars:

YM240: x402

YM240D: x299

YM2000: x562

YM186D: 705 (Acquired from original owner who says hours were accurate)

YM1401D: x570

I'm suspicious that the hours on the YM240D and the YM2000 may actually be correct readings. Both of them bang instantly to life if there is enough power to the starter to spin the flywheel all the way through the compression stroke. Even with a nearly dead battery I can get them to fire up in "cold" (down to 40ish degrees) weather, without any thermostart or other tricks. The Y2000 is astonishing to me every time I fire it: the starter can just barely be turning the engine, but if I time it correctly I can close the compression release, the piston will b a r e l y get to the top of the compression stroke, and it will clank to life.

The 240 is almost certainly 1402 or 2402, or more. It still runs fine, but needs more speed from the starter and a few revolutions to build heat in the cylinder head before it will fire. The 1401D and 186D seem to be about the same; the 1401D may actually have only 570 hours; it starts easily, easier than the 186D, even, and they share the same motor.

Having said all that, it's much more likely that the ease of starting is much more closely tied to air filtration quality throughout the history of the machine than the absolute number of hours in operation.

Anywhere from 227 to close to 700... Same tractors, all run the same. :D

20 hours since last oil change. Other than that, no clue.

1467 showing right now.

I have my doubts its correct on a 30+ yo machine so far as I am concerned its good for oil changes and a record of roughly how much time I have put on it is all.

Anyone know at what hours the Japanese retire their tractors? when I got mine 2 years ago it had slightly over 500 hours, and was told it was most likely the original hours, never doubted it from the way it run, Although was rather badly weathered, The seller couldn't tell me for sure the year model, He had thought it was in the 80's , However later on when I came to the Great web site of TBN:thumbsup: I found out that it was actually a 1979I wasn't that disappointed as my last tractor was 20+ years older, so this was a step up to a much newer one for me...... currently It now has 689 hours and has be parked for close to a month, and probably will be for the Winter:cool:

The folks on here that get the fresh outta the Jap yard machines to resell on here like Tom or Ernie have some 2000s and other late 70s models with sometimes what i think is 500 to 800 hours on them. This is pretty much what we all hear on all those websites that talk about these yanmars and how the Japanees trade them etc etc. SO my guess is that the small farms trade in the 400-900 hour range?

Hmm....maybe the 720 on my hour meter is correct.

i would say mine is a low hour machine also,it had the meter rewind done on "rebuild" but it had its original tyres on it ( fronts more than 2/3 tread remaining but dry rotted and rears like new) and everything else on it is very good, uses no oil, vents nothing out of the crank case and also everything on it is tight. no slop in steering, gear shift.... nothing. i use it above what it was designed for and she comes out shining. it is currently on 99 hours.

Neat my "rebuild" has original Era tires. But the thing is that they have a yard full of them im sure and if yours comes in with a cut tire or worn set they trade um out for good ones but still old tires. How can container load after load always end up with good tires other wise. Mine will blow a little steam or smoke out when idled up to speed when hot, if you look at the tube in the light right. Otherwise you never see anythin coming out of the tube even if you look hard at it.

YM1401
I bought it in 1999 from an Alabama dealer and the tractor was showing 495 hours and I have put a 1000 on since then. Great little tractor. Since I purchased it, I have done the following:
1. new turf tires
2. painted
3. added ROPS
4. over-riding clutch (quick attach)
5. front wheel bearings
6. complete decal set from Hoye
7. rebuilt starter
8. regular service

i even tried the piece of card trick and never saw or had any oil on it. i can take the oil cap off it and feel nothing, very happy with this little machine.
