How many watts can the el cynical system handle?

Your Org.# LB-4520 is only a 25/25w. With a dyno your maxed out at 180. I don't know your Elec. Sys. Gauges Etc. so keep that in mind and your have to add that in also. I can turn my dash off and if you are able to do that then wire the Lights in a separate Circuit.

15 amps X 12 volts = 180 watts.
Keep in mind that this is maximum output for this very puny little alternator. Alternators also produce less power when hot, and that 15 amp rating is at a high RPM, which is not stated.

Carey - I emailed a couple of LED outfits to see if a LED equivalent of the 4550 is available...One response is in and they said no on e makes one ...yet.

With the battery tender faithfully used. I would not hesitate to go 120watts of lighting.

I've even seen an kept the old bulb and haven't seen anything like it. I don't ever use my lights maybe a Handful of times that I had to. And I do know that at a idle my Alternator puts out about 35amp @ 13.25v 463.75.watts Seems there would be a Conversion to a alt.. And if it there isn't I'd make one. with alittle Ingenuity. However you spell it! And that dynamo would be gone.

Alternator or Generator does not matter. You take the amperage (I) output multiply by 12 (V) and get the power output (W)

Power = I x V (also can use E for voltage) which give you PIE P=IE

So if you have a 198 amp alternator 198 (I) x 12 (V) = 2376 Watts.

Is it simple to measure how many amps the dynamo can give? I have a digital multimeter. If it is I could check mine at idle and other speeds, then I d know for sure.

The Peterson's are made in the USA. They make headlamps for the older motorcycle and ATV stuff in LED. With that said, the Yanmar headlamps often used the motorcycle square headlamps.
