I was born in February, 1946. I asked my oldest brother, who would have been seven years old at that time, if he remembered any of the war. His reply, "I remember our mother came running out of the house yelling "the war is over! the war is over!"". She passed away in 1950 of breast cancer.

All I remember from the war was finding dad's uniform, combat boots and leggings in a closet. The license plate on the car was a sticker on the front windshield and grandma had some ration stamps left over.

I think we all guessed at some of them. Educated, logical guesses of course. Normally a couple of the possibilities don't make sense, and you try to choose the best of the remainder.

Our military of today can whip any opposing force on Earth. But not when Politicians are guiding them. Unleash our Generals and ban the reporters and it would be over fairly quickly. But we gotta want to win first.

I'm not sure you fully understand what's been done to our military. Clinton gutted it, Bush ran what was left into the ground, and Obama has destroyed what was left and cut the head off leadership, using it to experiment in liberalism. The military you knew is gone, it's now just a regional force. HS

I recently finished a 40 year Army career. Vietnam, Desert Storm, 2 tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. First Sergeant for 22 years. I definitely understand what's been done to our military. I'm afraid you don't fully understand what your military is capable of, even in it's current state. But you gotta be completely committed to the battle first.

I'm afraid you don't fully understand what your military is capable of, even in it's current state. But you gotta be completely committed to the battle first.

I served for 30 years on active duty, retired a CWO4, I'm not a spring chicken. Like you I have three national defense metals. HS
