How much do you think this stump weighs?

I have been able to pick move larger stumps by just workinig at knocking the dirt out of the roots. The dirt is what makes it heavy. You just have to keep picking at the roots. I'm suprized you tried using the loader vs. working it out with the hoe?
I would have use my L39's hoe bucket curl force to get it out of the hole or at least knock it around, then knocked the dirt out, and finally carry it away with the front grapple.

Stump weight is really tough to judge.

That reminds me of a suggestion that another made for cutting down the weight of the root ball. Use a sawzall with pruning blades to cut pieces off. Be prepared to ruin a few blades but they are cheaper than chainsaw chains.

Using a hose or even better a pressure washer to get at some of the dirt in the stump roots can help. If Ms. Tractor allows, you can also just let it sit for a season and let Ma Nature's rain and freeze thaw cycles help you too.

See my post in the pics forum. Ray picked up a root ball & simply shook the dirt off it, like you would pull a carrot from your garden & shake it clean! Whoever said, "Size doesn't matter" was wrong! :D
