Oil & Fuel How much $$ for diesel where you live?

Welcome to what our state along with CT & has been for over 4+ years. That is the #1 reason why I sold my 97 F350 diesel. Diesel is between 10 to $0.50+ per gallon more then high test (winter is worse).....My savings from diesel to gas are half my car payment. BONG

I can buy gas for $2.08 and diesel is 2.49 to 2.69. I would not mind higher prices if the profit went somewhere other then OPEC's pockets.

That's too bad since the profits are not going to OPEC. The profits are going to the big oil companies and market futures speculators. OPEC's output has been fairly constant for some time now. The speculation based on perceived and/or real demand is what is raising the price at the pump.

Refining capacity is also a factor but have you seen the latest profit numbers for the big oil companies? Their pockets are being lined at the expense of the consumer.

Motor fuel at under $2.00 per gallon, gas or diesel, is a thing of the past. We will see $3 per gallon before we see $1.99 per gallon.

The profits are going to OPEC and the distributors of it. And yes, the prices are a total scam but what are we going to do, nothing. I really do not care since my auto use less fuel then my old truck. It was like last quator of Exxon/Mobil was the best ever. Gee for figure.

But on the flip side the truckers will just pass the inflated prices down to us. So if you have a diesel truck and buy lots of stuff (food, electronics …) you are getting down slammed on both ends; in my weird logic thinking.

Oh, on the way home from CT last nigh (early this am) diesel is 2.50 in some areas (not much) and in MA ($.010 less tax per gallon). Price is $2.51

My 97 F250 PSD gets about 21 miles to the gallon; so I figure the price of gas would have to be roughly HALF the price of diesel to see much savings by switching to an equivalent gas truck.

Fuel prices in general aren't ever going to come down significantly until we convert to some magical, TBD alternative fuel source. We're probably at, near, or past peak oil production. I won't defend big oil profits, but fuel is cheap here compared to Europe, and the higher price of diesel is partly the result of the war in Iraq. The U.S. military consumes large quantities of diesel, particularly in wartime. So it's partly supply and demand. Same thing with plywood.

Diesel here is anywhere from 96.9¢ to 104.9¢/L . Around the same price for regular gas.

Across the river in W.Va.
-Checked one station and it was~$2.44.9
--Next one I checked there was~ $2.49.9.
